The Noble Peace Prize 10-15-09
ReplyDeleteJasmine Cheung
I wonder what Obama said when he woke up to the news and found out that he had won the noble peace prize. I wonder what his wife Michelle said when she found out. I wonder how did he handle it? How did his children handle it? This was a suprising, loving, and yet awkward gift.

ReplyDeleteWhy Bomb the Moon?
By Elvis Lau
At 7:30 on October fifteenth, NASA bombed the moon. Two explosions, one moon. Can the moon be a source of water? Will people be able to live on the moon?
Is there another way to find out another place for a source of water? Will we have to keeping bombing the moon? The next manned mission the moon is about 28-36 billion dollars, so why not try another planet! The moon is important, so we shouldn’t bomb it. We should protect it.
No, For Project On Gas, Suspending Life
ReplyDeleteScientists work on a way to make poison gas suspend lives. They try it on a rat and the rat doesn’t die. Why? The gas they used was Hydrogen Sulfide. The rat’s breathing rate keeps going down but it’s not dying. How is this so? They say this is the future of emergency medicine but so many things could go wrong. I say that this could go wrong because if the gas got out at the wrong time and do serious harm to someone. You’re supposed to need to oxygen to breath. They say not. How? This is what I think about what they’re doing.

ReplyDeleteTornadoes
By: Vivian Wang
Tornadoes are dangerous and violent. They can kill you in one blow. Also tornadoes can kill you also by making you float. Then the next thing you know it you would get dropped down and die of painfulness. They will spin you around and around and around until you can’t breathe anymore. Tornadoes can also produce more than one tornado. Tornadoes are a doom to everyone on Earth’s surface including plants, animals, and human being. Today tornadoes are still going on and you can never tell where tornadoes will land.
Now I am going to tell you about how big, how wide, and etc. about tornadoes can be. The average speed of the tornado is 40 mph and 110 mph. Tornadoes can travel several kilometers. It mostly stays on the ground. The size of a tornado is about 500 feet (150m).
I think tornadoes are very cool! It would be cool if someone actually was alive from a tornado. They are also scary because you could die from a tornado!!!

ReplyDeleteStay Tuned…. For the Swine Flu!
By DJ Adena
Big news! Everyone knows the Swine Flu, right? Well, here’s a great update! Well, if you didn’t know, earlier this year, a specific flu came in. You know what flu it is? Of course you do! It’s the Swine Flu. The Swine Flu had come from Mexico. Unfortunately, it was known to be very deadly. Others say from swine, also known as pigs, to have caused this mishap. What ever it was, I would maybe blame the swine. That was then, though. What’s happening now?
Scientists are working to prevent the H1N1 from spreading. What mad scientists these are. The U.S. CDC hopes for more than a million vaccines in and available by October 15. What has happened though? Are there vaccines in today? I honestly wouldn’t know, but all of us here in America are waiting for these vaccines. The CDC just hopes for the vaccines by now, but we want the vaccines in now! Well, there is some things to do than just sitting around, waiting for people to stop the spread of H1N1 virus. There are actually, many ways to prevent H1N1 virus. Wash your hands, cough or sneeze with your hand or arm covering your mouth, stay home when you are feeling sick. Yeah, all of that stuff may seem geeky, but what would you rather do? Prevent the H1N1 virus, or get the H1N1 virus? I would for sure prevent it!

I wonder why Jaycee Lee Dugard’s daughters are missing. I wonder where they are. I wonder if they are still alive. Why is that Jaycee Lee was kidnapped and not others? I have so many questions about this horrible event. I wonder were her parents worried about her?

Studies show that while ingesting food or drink, a powerful painkilling effect occurs. Only pleasurable food triggers pain relief.
.Obesity should not be blamed on our brainstems triggers because research shows plain water triggers the same effect as hedonistic foods.

ReplyDeleteEffects of Books Banned
It is hard to believe they banned certain books. Even though the books my have problems of violence, inappropriate words and pictures, nudity, and religious, to me, it should be like this. All they have to do is have certain ages for certain books. When a child takes the book, the Liberian could just not yet the child take the book, even when it hurts the child’s feelings.
Not only does the event hurt the author’s motivations to make books, it can also demotivate the young authors to write books. I say the person who wanted certain books to get banned should think again about the reactions of others, not just themselves. I would choose to keep all the books. Banned or not banned, I think the books should stay since the readers might want to write the books.

I am going to tell you about earthquakes. You do not know when earthquakes will happen. In my opinion I think earthquakes are scary. Do you think earthquakes are scary? There are 3 types of earthquakes and they are normal, strike-slip, and thrust. People die from earthquakes and it is sad you might think it is sad too probably. Do you think there should be earthquakes in this world?Earthquakes are almost most dangerous to humans. Do you think earthquakes are dangerous?

ReplyDeleteYIKES!! WATCH OUT
FOR THE DEADLY SWINE FLU!!
BY Angela
Yikes! There is a new flu in town and it is the deadly, contagious SWINE FLU!!! This deadly flu started in a family of pigs living in Mexico. Maybe this year it’s best not to go on vacation because there are a lot of places around the world affected. But some people in Mexico blame Texas, US for spreading the flu to Mexico. Because pigs live so close to each other it’s really easily to get contaminated. Though meat is good, it’s good to be careful of what you eat.
Luckily, scientists created a way to prevent swine flu. Here is my opinion; I think the shot to prevent it is weird because there is a sample of swine flu in the shot. The scientists made the shot so people would get used to a little bit of swine flu. At least the shot is better than the real swine flu because you are just getting a little sample of it.

ReplyDeleteDOES PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA DESERVE THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE?
By: Allen :)
Many people are asking: Why did Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize?!?! What did he do to get it? Was it just because of the fact that he is President Obama? Some protestors are saying he just got the world-famous prize because he is 'not Bush'.
Others, however, think that he has the right to the NPP just as much as anyone else and more than some. They say the world-famous prize is not given for actual accomplishments, but for work toward a goal.
You make a decision: Do YOU think Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize?
The Swine Flu
ReplyDeleteswine flu Emily Lee 10-15 The swine flu is such a deadly flu. The influenza is increasing in the United States and people are scared to catch the flu. People should spend more money on helping to prevent the disease by giving free vaccines. I think we should be protected from the disease. But we don’t have to be so scared of it.

ReplyDeleteAhhh!!! The Deadly H1N1!!!
By: Katelyn Ewe
Big news! We are talking about the scary and deadly Swine Flu. The Swine Flu comes from pigs and it spread all the way from Mexico to around the whole world! Let’s just say if going on vacation at this time to Mexico is not a very smart idea. Many have died but before letting the Swine Flu gets to you, there are some easy ways to help prevent it. Just wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and avoid touching the eyes, nose, or mouth. You should also lay off on the meat that may contain the Swine Flu. But we all know that you have to eat some meat. So, you can make sure it is safe to eat if it is not infected by the Swine Flu. Right now doctors are trying to cure this virus but maybe the families don’t have enough money to go see a doctor and get the shots. Maybe people are not spending too much money for the vaccine. Either way I really don’t like what is going on with the pigs. Blame the pigs for spreading this very deadly disease.
During 2012 many scientists have many proof that 2012 is the end of the world. For example a fragment of the persentage pie is that we will have strange very difernt weather. For instance virgina has hurricans and storms while we have earth quakes. so as soon as 2012 starts we will have virginas weather and they will have ours. The world tillts back and forth and every 26000 years the world will keep tilting forward or bakwards intill a particular spot then it will start moving back and forth again.

Attack of the Swine Flu!
Well have you heard of the new flu? Well it’s called the Swine Flu. Anyways it was said to come from Mexico and from pigs. The scientists are trying to find the cure for the Swine Flu. Well if you want to be “Swine Flu free” well you have to do these simple things. Wash your hands when they are dirty and when you’re finished using the bathroom. You also need to cough and sneeze into your elbow. Remember to stay home when you are sick for at least 24/7 that means 24 hours. Do these things and you’ll be safe! Well Bye!

Missing Child Found After 18 Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess what! A missing child was found after 18 years. Her name was Jaycee Dugard. Jaycee Ducard was snatched of the street when she was 11 years old. The person that kidnapped her took her to a backyard. Jaycee is now 29 years old she has 2 daughters who are now 11 and 15 years old they never went to school. That’s all for today Bye!

He was 28 years-old when he was leaving from the national zoo to the county zoo. My opinion is that I think the hippo is really happy to leave the national zoo. My other opinion is that I wonder why the hippopotamus will leave the national zoo to the county zoo.

Jaycee Dugard is FINALLY back!
Jaycee is now back with her family after 18 years of being kidnapped when she was 11 now she is 29. She has two daughters now; she lived in a tent outside in a backyard of the kidnapper. I think that being kidnapped for 18 years is a lot and I feel sorry for her, her daughters, and her family. If I was her then I would have been really scared and depressed. My option is that she spent time with her family 24/7. She is so lucky to be back because other kidnapped kids do not have the chance to be back to their family.

Swine flu is not normally fatal to humans. Symptoms are similar to that of regular flu and can include fever, coughing, sneezing, nausea and vomiting. If you suspect you have Swine flu, please read What To Do for advice on this disease.
October 15, 2009 Why Swine Flu (H1N1)
ReplyDeleteBy: Simon Chen
I think swine flu is very dangerous and painful. Like in the television, people really are in pain because of swine flu. I would not want to get swine flu and I would do the requirements and things that I need to do to not get swine flu. There is swine flu shots now, and only some are free I think because they care about people not getting the flu. Also, if people don’t get the shots because it is expensive, and if they get swine flu, they might regret and they might also spread the flu! I think the swine flu started at Mexico. Some people won’t even eat food that came from Mexico! People really need to be careful and follow the rules that won’t make them get the flu.

ReplyDeleteWhy do we need space?
By: Cindy W.
We need space because if we don’t we won’t have us. Space is a good place to explore only with a telescope. Space has a lot of cool things like the moon, planets, black holes, sun, asteroids, and others. Space is also a great fact for scientists, because most part of earth is matter and matter is science and it’s made from space. If you ever went to your telescope take a close up to explore what is on the sky.
p.s. Jupiter has 53 moons, Isn’t it awesome

The flu has been on to the younger people more. The best thing to do is to stay away from the wild pigs since they did start it. Experts say that it is important for mothers to keep watch at your children’s symptoms. Vaccination for the swine flu has been out in the hospitals. The vaccine has just been out and is still new but there has been no one with a side effects so far.

ReplyDeleteBOOOOM, ON THE MOON
ReplyDeleteDid you know that NASA is bombing the moon, and after they are done they look in the debris for ice or water? Well if you have heard of it here is my opinion on it. I do not know why they are doing that. What is the point of bombing the moon, to live there? I mean like so what if there is water us we civilians need to breathe too right, but it is kind of cool how they actually bombed the moon. So you get my point right?

A Costly “Boom” for the Moon
Boom! On June 18, 2009 two robotic spacecraft was launched into the moon operated by the NASA. These two spacecrafts are called the LCROSS(Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Program ) and the LRO(Lunar Precursor Robotic Program). NASA spent $583 million dollars on these two and for what? To find out how many water and ice is on the moon. Yep I agree this is crazy, and especially wasting all that money in a time when the economy is so low!!! I wouldn’t have objected this if this was in ten years or so when the economy will be much better, I mean who wouldn’t want to know how big the chance is of humans living on the moon or UFOs being there? But this just isn’t the time for launching these two money-costers out there!!!!
Not only did this project cost America a load but it damaged the moon too! How? It got damaged because of those twin giants crash landing on to the moon. All because of curiosity getting to some space studiers, we lost a load of money(in which we built new parks, find cures for diseases, etc.) and we damaged the moon too. I didn’t think this project was worth it… what is your opinion on this? Comment now!!!

ReplyDeleteVolcanoes
By Michelle Chen
Volcanoes are dangerous to humans because when the magma/lava comes out, it can burn you. Also the magma that came out are boiling hot. Volcanoes are also dangerous because the lava expands all over the place. Then it would be very hard to get away from the lava because it would quickly go all around, so you would have to get as far as you can from the volcanoes or else it would burn you up. Volcanoes also changes the Earth’s surface because when it erupts, the magma burn away some of the landforms. Then when the magma/lava get washed away or goes away slowly by itself it would show what had happen to the surface after it burned away. Also the magma carries rocks in them. Those rocks are called “Igneous Rocks.” The nickname for those igneous rocks are called “Fire Rock” because it was made of hot boiling lava.
My options of volcanoes are that they are dangerous, but they are very cool looking. I think that they are cool because of how it can change the surface and how it can produce rocks.
